our subteams

Overview

In general, subteams are responsible for training new members in their discipline, creating a full plan to achieve tasks related to their discipline, executing those tasks, recording any lessons learned along with the context for such lessons, recording resources found or created for the subteam, and archiving any files related to the subteam in the Los Alamitos FRC Google Drive and/or Discord server.

Manufacturing

Executes the design, making parts from the ground up as necessary, utilizing COTS parts, and assembling all parts. Also maintaining the team’s tools, maintaining shop/shed organization, and make the FRC field.

  • Maintain Manufacturing portion of Production List (make sure to mark parts’ progress as they get built)

safety

Documents and sets safety practices for the team, reporting on any safety incidents to make improvements going forward, and ensure a clean shop (a safe shop must first be a clean shop). Ensure safe practices are followed at competition, know where all safety materials (standards, safety pamphlets, etc.) and kits (first aid, battery spill, etc.) are in the pit, and ensure the pit is clean and safe. Train all new members in basic tool usage and safety principles, working closely with Manufacturing.

When Design is finished with their design, they manage the temporary in-season Strategy/Scouting subteam and develop a full strategy for our team, along with a plan to collect and utilize data at competitions via scouting. Strategy should also provide Business with relevant information for the Technical Binder.

  • Maintain Design Standards (a set of regulations for the design subteam on CAD, design principles, etc.)

  • Maintain Production Form (a form providing information about every part that needs to be made by the team) and fill it out for every part

  • Maintain Design portion of Production List (a spreadsheet with the answers from the Production Form)

  • Create a Bot Overview explaining each robot to team members
